First International Flight from Zafer Airport

The first international flight from Zafer International Airport, which has been opened for joint benefit of cities Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar and Uşak, takes place with a ceremony.

The first international flight from Zafer International Airport, which has been opened for joint benefit of cities Kütahya, Afyonkarahisar and Uşak, takes place with a ceremony. The first official flight, involving a Turkish Airlines (THY) airplane, took off today at 12.30 for Medina city of the Saudi Arabia with 181 passengers.

The Governor of Kütahya and city protocol attended the ceremony held. Governor Çiftçi presented a rose to each passenger of the first international flight, wishing them a "good flight". In his speech, Governor Kenan Çiftçi said, ‘As known, our Zafer Regional Airport was opened for service by our Prime Ministry on 20 November. Today, we witness the first international flight from our airport. Actually, the first flight would be to the Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia today. However, there was a problem due to the construction work taking place at the airport in Jeddah. Therefore, the first flight is now taking place to the Medina city. I am wishing a good flight to all our citizens traveling for Umrah purposes’.
Umrah passengers from Uşak, Eskişehir and Afyonkarahisar boarded on the plane following passport check and took off for the holy lands.

ABOUT ZAFER AIRPORT

Zafer Regional Airport is located at 45 km to Kütahya city center, 55 km to Afyonkarahisar city center and approximately 100 km to Uşak city center.
Zafer Airport consists of runway with a length of 3 thousand meters and a width of 45 meters, which is concrete-coated and equipped with technical devices allowing taking off and landing under any weather conditions, a connecting taxiway, an apron with a capacity to accommodate 5 aircrafts and a terminal. The terminal with an enclosed space of 17 thousand 600 square meters has 20 check-in points, 4 exit gates and domestic and international lines arriving passenger halls.
Constructed in a manner to serve 3 million passengers a year, the airport is expected to accommodate 2 million passengers a year, incl. both domestic and international lines, and the facility is expected to increase the demand for ground and underground riches in Afyonkarahisar, Kütahya and Uşak cities.
